Consecration isn’t about achieving perfect sinlessness so that God will finally move on our behalf. God was going to get His people across that river regardless of their spiritual state. The purpose of consecration was to prepare their hearts and minds to recognize, appreciate, and understand the value of what God was about to do.
We live in an instant culture that has lost the art of spiritual preparation. God is still working miracles around us every day, but we miss them because our minds aren’t consecrated – they’re too busy, too focused on ourselves or our circumstances to notice His hand at work. Consecration through prayer and Scripture reading isn’t about earning God’s favor; it’s about positioning our hearts to see His favor that’s already there.
Every day you are crossing Jordan rivers – God is parting waters, opening doors, changing hearts, providing exactly what you need – but you might not even notice it because your mind isn’t prepared to see His work.
