“Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed. All came to pass.” Let that sink in for a moment. Not one word failed. Everything God promised came to pass.

Think about the obstacles God had to overcome to fulfill his promises. The promised land was given to Abraham, but Abraham never received it. He only owned Sarah’s cemetery plot, which he had to buy. God told Abraham his descendants would be slaves in a land not their own for 400 years. So not only did Abraham not see the promise fulfilled, it was delayed for four generations.

Then came 400 years of slavery in Egypt. Then 40 years of wilderness wandering because of rebellion. Time, slavery, rebellion, all apparent obstacles to God’s promises. Yet despite every barrier, God’s faithfulness never wavered. He smashed through every obstacle. His promises trampled all opposition.

This is the character of our God. His faithfulness is tenacious, relentless, unstoppable. And this same faithfulness extends to you. The promise he gives in Romans 8:28 still stands: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

When your faith withers under the weight of time, when circumstances look impossible, when past failures haunt you, remember this: Not one of God’s good promises will fail. What he starts, he finishes. What he promises, he delivers. His faithfulness covers every obstacle, every delay, every apparent setback.
