"It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the Lord said."

Joshua 14:12

Some might read Caleb’s words “it may be” and think he’s expressing doubt. But this is actually the voice of expectancy, not uncertainty. Caleb isn’t saying “I hope God shows up.” He’s saying “I’m stepping out in faith, trusting that the same God who has been faithful for 45 years will continue to be faithful today.”

This is faith that doesn’t need to know all the details before it acts. We often want a map, a diagram, a step-by-step guide before we’re willing to move forward. We want to know how it’s going to happen, when it’s going to happen, and what the milestones will be. But that’s not how faith works.

Faith steps out and trusts God for the next step, then the next, then the next. This is the faith that says, “God, You promised it, I believe it, and I’m willing to act on it, even if it means facing giants.” Faith asks for the mountain, not the valley.

Today's Challenge

What is one area where God might be calling you to step out in faith without having all the details figured out? What would it look like to trust Him for something that seems impossible?

Prayer

Lord, forgive me for wanting to know all the details before I'm willing to trust You. Help me to have Caleb's faith that ventures on Your promises rather than my own understanding. Give me courage to ask for the mountain You have for me, even when it seems impossible. Amen.
