"Now while Peter was inwardly perplexed as to what the vision that he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius... stood at the gate."

Acts 10:17

Peter had just received one of the most confusing visions of his life. A sheet filled with unclean animals descended from heaven, and a voice commanded him to “kill and eat”, directly contradicting everything he’d been taught about God’s law. He was “inwardly perplexed,” wrestling with what this could possibly mean.
But notice what happened while Peter was still confused: God’s plan continued to unfold. The men from Cornelius arrived at exactly the right moment. Peter didn’t need to understand the vision completely before God moved to the next step.

We live in a culture that demands instant clarity. We want to see the full picture before we commit and understand the complete plan before we step forward. But God often works differently. He gives us just enough light for the next step, knowing that if we could see the whole journey, we might trust in our own understanding rather than depend on Him.

Peter’s confusion wasn’t a roadblock, it was a gift. It kept him dependent on God’s guidance rather than his own wisdom. When we can’t figure everything out ourselves, we’re forced to listen more carefully for God’s voice and trust more fully in His character.

Today's Challenge

Where in your life are you currently feeling confused or uncertain? How might God be using this confusion to increase your dependence on Him rather than your own understanding?

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the times I've demanded complete clarity before taking steps of faith. Help me to see my confusion not as a sign of Your absence, but as an invitation to depend more fully on You. Give me the humility to trust Your timing and Your wisdom, even when I can't see the full picture. In Jesus' name, Amen.
