Daily Devotional

"For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach."

Titus 1:10-11

Paul doesn’t sugarcoat the reality facing the Cretan church. False teachers weren’t just misguided; they were actively deceiving people for personal gain. In our time, we face similar challenges. Whether it’s prosperity preachers promising health and wealth, or teachers who twist Scripture to fit cultural trends, the motivation often remains the same: personal gain over biblical truth.

The phrase “upsetting whole families” reminds us that false teaching doesn’t just affect individuals, it damages entire communities. When we compromise on biblical truth, the ripple effects extend far beyond ourselves.

Today's Challenge

What voices are you listening to regularly? Take inventory of the teachers, podcasts, books, and social media accounts that influence your thinking. Are they grounded in biblical truth or do they appeal to what you want to hear?

Prayer

Lord, give me discernment to recognize false teaching when I encounter it. Help me to test everything against Your Word and to protect my family and church community from deception. Make me hungry for truth, not just comfort.
