"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
2 Corinthians 12:9
Caleb at 85 wasn’t weaker than Caleb at 40 – he was stronger. Not physically, but spiritually. He had 45 more years of seeing God’s faithfulness and learning to trust Him in ways he couldn’t when he was younger. Your weakness, your limitations, your struggles – they’re not disqualifications from God’s service. They’re opportunities for His strength to be displayed.
This truth applies throughout our lives, but it’s especially important as we age. Our culture worships youth and strength, but God’s kingdom operates differently. Some of your most significant victories might be ahead of you instead of behind you. The wisdom you’ve gained, the faith you’ve developed, the experience you’ve accumulated – God wants to use all of that for His glory.
Don’t you dare think that just because you’re getting older, God is done with you. And don’t let physical limitations convince you that your fighting days are over. God’s strength is made perfect in weakness, even in old age.
Today's Challenge
What weaknesses or limitations have you been viewing as disqualifications? How might God want to display His strength through these very areas?
Prayer
Lord, help me to see my weaknesses as opportunities for Your strength to shine through me. Don't let me retreat into spiritual retirement because of my limitations. Use every season of my life for Your glory, and help me finish strong, no matter what that looks like. Amen.
