Summer Worship Leader Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW

Church on the Way is seeking a passionate, Spirit-led individual to serve as our Summer Worship Leader Intern. This internship is a hands-on, formative ministry experience designed for those who sense a calling to vocational worship ministry. The intern will serve alongside our elders, leading the congregation in weekly Sunday morning worship while growing in the disciplines of ministry, community, and discipleship.

POSITION DETAILS

Position: Summer Worship Leader Intern

Duration: Summer (dates negotiable)

Location: Church on the Way, Lake City, Florida

Reports To: Lead Pastor

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Worship Planning and Leadership

• Collaborate weekly with the pastor to select songs, plan the order of worship, and ensure musical alignment with the sermon text and theme.
• Lead Sunday morning worship with the existing musicians, creating an atmosphere that invites the congregation to engage authentically with God.
• Arrive prepared for rehearsal with the worship team prior to each service.
• Bring a pastoral sensitivity to worship leadership, helping the congregation understand what they are singing and why.

Discipleship and Community

• Participate actively in a weekly small group as both a member and a learner.
• Attend and engage fully in the DNA Bible Study each week, deepening personal faith and biblical knowledge.
• Be available to serve in additional ministry capacities as needs arise throughout the summer.

Character and Development

• Pursue personal spiritual disciplines, including daily Scripture reading and prayer throughout the internship.
• Receive regular mentoring and feedback from the pastor with a teachable and humble spirit.
• Represent Church on the Way with integrity, warmth, and a servant’s heart both on and off the platform.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A growing personal faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of a genuine call to worship ministry.
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college, university, or seminary program (preferred areas: worship, music, theology, or ministry leadership).
• Demonstrated ability to sing and/or play piano or guitar at a level appropriate for leading congregational worship.
• Agreement with the Statement of Faith and mission of Church on the Way.
• A cooperative spirit and willingness to serve within an established team and church culture.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to follow through on commitments.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Church on the Way is committed to caring for our interns so they can focus fully on ministry and personal growth. The following support is provided for the duration of the internship:

• Housing: A furnished apartment is provided at no cost to the intern, with all associated expenses (utilities, internet, etc.) covered by the church.
• Monthly Stipend: A monthly financial stipend is provided to cover personal living expenses. Monthly amount to TBD determined based on the length of time available
• Tuition Contribution: A monthly contribution will be made toward the intern’s college or seminary tuition as an investment in their ongoing education and ministry preparation.
• Travel expenses: Gas will be provided to and from Seminary.
