Learning on the way

Often, we focus on thinking about our faith correctly and forget to practice our faith. In what areas of your faith do you struggle to practice your faith, or that you are passive in your faith?

We need to focus on what’s true and not on our assumptions. Do you create and focus on narratives you’ve created in your head that aren’t true? How does this negatively affect your relationships with others? How does this negatively affect your peace and create anxiety?

Philippians is a book based on Paul’s friendship with the people he loves in Philippi. Do you have joy when you see others in your church, small group, or even your family (children, spouse)? What do you think is holding you back? How can we imitate Christ in our church relationships so that we have joy?

How have you disciplined your thoughts on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy in the past? If you are married, have you practiced this with your spouse this week? How does this change in what you focus on affect your day-to-day life?

Read Numbers 6:24-26. God’s face shines upon his children, and he knows our name. What does this mean to you? Describe an experience where you felt God shining upon you.
