Learning on the Way

As you look over Philippians 2:19–30, how would you say Timothy and Epaphroditus imitated Jesus Christ in their lives and actions? What is Christlike about these two men? What are some examples of godly friends who have served as mentors or role models in your life? How have they shaped your faith and personal ministry?

What areas do you struggle most with being willing to serve others or put their needs above your own? When have you felt called to serve in a way that seemed difficult or outside your comfort zone? How did you respond, and what did you learn from the experience?

Would other believers say of you what Paul said of Timothy—that you seek the “interests” of Jesus Christ and the “welfare” of others (2:20–21)? If you don’t think so, why not? What can you do to better seek to imitate the godliness of Timothy?

How can our church better identify, encourage, and celebrate faithful servants among us? What specific things could you do to honor others in this way?
