Learning on The Way:
What have you learned throughout this series? What has had the greatest impact on you? How has increased your ability to show compassion to others?
Looking at Adam & Eve, Abraham, Noah, the exodus, etc. God could have chosen to start creation over at any of those points. How does His solution to our sinful situation differ from how you often handle hard situations in your own life? Have you ever just hit the reset button on friends, locations or careers? What does this reveal about the character of God versus our character?
Hesed is God’s loving-kindness – “the consistent, ever-faithful, relentless, constantly pursuing, lavish, extravagant, unrestrained, one-way love of God.” How does this view of God’s one-way love towards us deepen your understanding of the value He has for you? What difference does that make in you?
“What evil meant for destruction, God used to expose, excise and heal.” What does it mean to you to know that God wastes nothing in your life? How does this bring you closer to Him? How does this help you to show compassion and God’s love to others who are suffering, no matter the reason?
We live in a reality where there is a very real and intense spiritual battle raging between the light and darkness. God went on the offensive with the cross to bring His children out of the dark and into the light. Knowing that God didn’t react to our need but has actively pursued our redemption and reconciliation to Him from before our creation, describe what this tells us about Him? How do you see this battle play out in your life? In our church? In our city?
