How have you been thinking about the freedom you have in Christ these last two weeks? Has our study in Ephesians had any changes on your daily life and thoughts, actions?
Biblical wisdom isn’t just limited to extreme intelligence and knowledge. Wisdom is a skill we can each grow in through the help of the Holy Spirit. How does this change your perception of wisdom? Give an example of something/someone wise that fits this new description.
Our new identity should be cause for us to say no to any outside influence that will keep us from living in our new identity and walking in wisdom. Some examples include the misuse of alcohol, drugs or sex. But other examples could be social media, doom-scrolling news, games on your phone, youtube videos, escapist pursuits, shopping, any outside influence. What outside influence tempts you or becomes a hindrance to walking in your new identity? What negative effects can you see in your life?
Being filled with the Holy Spirit allows us to be the best version of ourselves. However, we have to make the decision to be influenced by the spirit. Being able to make that decision is only possible because of the influence of Jesus in our lives. Do you have evidence that you desire the spirit’s influence? How does that help quiet doubts of your salvation?
Are you open to the Spirit’s influence? What areas of your life do you resist being changed or influenced by the spirit? What areas do you think don’t need to be changed? What do the answers to these questions reveal about your heart?
