"He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay."

Matthew 28:6

Some of the most important turning points in life happen while we’re sleeping. Joseph went to bed a refugee in Egypt and woke to a divine call to return home. But the greatest example of overnight transformation is the resurrection itself.

The disciples went to sleep on Saturday night in utter despair. Their Messiah was dead and buried. Everything they had hoped for seemed finished. But while they slept, a stone rolled away. They woke to an empty tomb, and everything changed. The same Jesus who came from insignificant Nazareth, who was threatened by Herod, who lived as a refugee in Egypt, now conquered death itself.

This is the hope we hold onto. The new Moses has come. The one who is greater than Moses could ever be. Moses could bring Israel to the edge of the Promised Land, but Jesus brings His people all the way home. And if you put your faith and trust in Him, everything can change for you. Not just overnight, but for eternity.

Today's Challenge

How does the resurrection give you hope for the situations in your life that seem hopeless? What would it look like to live today in light of the truth that Jesus has overcome the world? How might you encourage someone else with this hope?

Prayer

Risen Lord, thank You that death could not hold You. Thank You that the same power that raised You from the grave is at work in my life today. When my circumstances seem hopeless, remind me of the empty tomb. When oppressors seem unstoppable, remind me that You have overcome the world. Help me to live not as one who is defeated but as one who shares in Your victory. Use me to bring this hope to others who are still sleeping in despair. May they wake to find that everything has changed because of You. In Your risen name I pray, Amen.
