"One man of you puts to flight a thousand, since it is the Lord your God who fights for you, just as he promised you."
Joshua 23:10
Three times in this chapter, Joshua hammers home the same point: It is the Lord your God who has fought for you. Not your military strategy. Not your superior numbers. Not your courage or strength. God fought for you. This wasn’t Joshua being humble or modest. This was Joshua speaking the truth that Israel desperately needed to remember.
Forgetfulness is one of the greatest threats to faith. When we forget what God has done, we start thinking we can handle life on our own. We forget that the addiction we overcame was God fighting for us. That the marriage that was restored was God fighting for us. That the depression we walked through was God fighting for us. We start taking credit for victories that only God could have won.
Throughout Scripture, God’s people are commanded to remember. Build altars. Tell stories. Celebrate feasts. Pass down testimonies. Why? Because remembering God’s past faithfulness fortifies our faith for future battles. When we remember that God has been faithful before, we can trust Him to be faithful again.
The battles you face today are not new to God. He has fought for you before, and He will fight for you again. But you must remember. You must build memorial stones in your life. You must rehearse His faithfulness until it becomes the soundtrack of your soul.

What are three specific ways God has fought for you in the past? Write them down. How does remembering these victories change the way you approach the struggles you're facing today? What memorial stone can you build this week to help you remember God's faithfulness?
Prayer
Father, thank You for fighting my battles when I was too weak to fight them myself. Forgive me for the times I've taken credit for victories that only You could have won. Help me to remember Your faithfulness in the past so I can trust You in the present. Give me a heart that constantly rehearses Your goodness and proclaims Your mighty deeds. Just as You were faithful then, I trust You to be faithful now. In Jesus' name, Amen.
