Daily Devotional
"And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp in Gilgal, saying, 'Do not relax your hands from your servants. Come up quickly to us and save us and help us."
Joshua 10:6
The Gibeonites didn’t just ask for a little help—they were desperate. They knew they were in trouble beyond their ability to handle, and they turned to the one person bound by covenant to help them. Their urgent plea reveals something important: sometimes our commitments lead us into situations where we become someone’s only hope.
When we keep our word, especially when it’s difficult, we often find ourselves in positions where God can use us powerfully in others’ lives. What started as an obligation becomes an opportunity for God to work through us. Joshua could have seen this crisis as an inconvenience, but instead it became the stage for one of God’s greatest miracles.
This is often how God works in our lives. He uses our faithful commitment to one thing to open doors for His miraculous work in areas we never expected. The marriage we’re tempted to give up on becomes the platform for God’s healing power. The ministry commitment we want to quit becomes the avenue for His transforming work.
Today's Challenge
Is there a commitment in your life that feels burdensome right now? How might God want to use your faithfulness in that area as an opportunity for His glory? Ask God to help you see your obligations through His eyes.
Prayer
Lord, help me to see my commitments not as burdens but as opportunities for You to work through me. When I feel overwhelmed by what I've promised to do, remind me that You often use our faithfulness in small things to accomplish great things. Transform my perspective from obligation to anticipation of what You might do. Amen.
