"...and at the proper time manifested his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior."

Titus 1:3

God’s eternal plan was revealed “at the proper time” through preaching. This phrase “proper time” (Greek: kairos) doesn’t refer to chronological time but to the perfect, appointed moment in God’s sovereign plan. Just as Jesus came in the “fullness of time” (Galatians 4:4), God’s truth is proclaimed at exactly the right moments.

Paul has been “entrusted” with this preaching ministry. The word suggests both privilege and responsibility. God has placed His precious truth into Paul’s care, expecting faithful stewardship. This wasn’t Paul’s idea or career choice; it came “by the command of God our Savior.”

Notice how Paul honors the ministry of preaching. In an age that often devalues spoken communication in favor of digital alternatives, Paul reminds us that God chose to manifest His eternal word primarily through human proclamation. There’s something uniquely powerful about God’s truth being declared by human voices to human hearts.

The phrase “God our Savior” is significant because it emphasizes that the same God who saves us is the one who commands the preaching of His word. Salvation and the proclamation of salvation come from the same loving, sovereign source.

Today's Challenge

How do you respond to the preaching of God's Word? Do you see it as God manifesting His truth to you personally? In what ways has God entrusted you with sharing His truth with others, even if not through formal preaching?

Prayer

God, our Savior, thank You for manifesting Your eternal truth through human proclamation. Help me to receive preaching as Your voice speaking to my heart. Show me the proper times and ways You want to use me to share Your truth with others. Give me faithfulness in whatever ministry You entrust to me. Amen.
