"No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you."

Joshua 1:5

Joshua stood at the edge of an impossible task. Moses, the great leader who had guided Israel for forty years, was gone. Now Joshua faced the daunting responsibility of leading over a million people into hostile territory. Can you imagine the weight on his shoulders? The whispers of doubt? The comparisons to Moses?

Yet God’s first promise to Joshua wasn’t about military strategy or supernatural power. It was simply this: “I will be with you.” The same God who had been with Moses would be with Joshua. Not a diminished presence. Not a partial commitment. The very same God.

This promise echoes through Scripture to us today. Whatever impossible task you face, whatever overwhelming responsibility has been placed on your shoulders, whatever battle looms before you, you are not alone. The God who split the Red Sea, who provided manna in the wilderness, who raised Jesus from the dead, this same God promises to be with you.

Notice the permanence of God’s commitment: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Never means never. There is no circumstance that can separate you from God’s presence. No failure that drives Him away. No success that makes Him unnecessary. He is with you in the mundane Monday morning and in the crisis moments. He is with you when you feel Him and when you don’t.

Today's Challenge

Write "I am not alone" on a note card and place it somewhere you'll see it throughout the day (bathroom mirror, car dashboard, computer monitor). Each time you see it, pause and acknowledge God's presence with you in that moment.

Prayer

Father, I confess that I often feel alone in my struggles. I forget that You are with me, just as You were with Joshua. Help me to rest in the security of Your presence today. When fear whispers that I'm on my own, remind me of Your promise to never leave me nor forsake me. Give me the faith to face today's challenges knowing that You are with me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
