Daily Devotional
"The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself."
Hebrews 7:23-27
Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of the Levitical priesthood. The Levite priests taught people about God; Jesus brings us to God. The Levites offered sacrifices for sin; Jesus is the sacrifice. The Levites received God as their inheritance; Jesus gives us God as our inheritance.
And here’s the most beautiful part: Jesus took the curse we deserved and gave us the blessing we could never earn. Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.'”
You don’t have to wonder if God can redeem your situation. He already has. At the cross, Jesus took your curse. He bore your judgment. He suffered your scattering. And in exchange, he offers you blessing, acceptance, and belonging.
Because of Jesus, you don’t have to run from God when you face consequences. You can draw near to him. You don’t have to wonder if you’re disqualified. You’re qualified through Christ. You don’t have to carry the weight of family dysfunction or past failures. Jesus has already carried it to the cross.
The same grace that transformed Levi’s descendants from cursed to called is available to transform your life through faith in Jesus Christ. He is in the business of turning curses into callings, judgment into blessing, scattering into strategic placement.
Today's Challenge
How does understanding Jesus as your ultimate priest who took your curse and gave you his blessing change how you approach your own sins and struggles? What would it look like this week to draw near to God through Jesus rather than running from him? How can you live in the freedom of knowing your past doesn't define you because of the cross?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for being my ultimate priest. Thank you for taking the curse I deserved and giving me blessing I could never earn. Thank you that because of the cross, I don't have to wonder if God can redeem my situation. You already have. Help me to live in the freedom of this truth. When I face consequences or struggle with my past, help me to draw near to you, not run from you. Transform my curse into calling, my judgment into blessing, my scattering into strategic placement. I trust in your redemptive power. In your name I pray, Amen.
