"And the Lord said to Joshua, 'See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor."
Joshua 6:2
Notice the tense – “I have given,” not “I will give.” Before Joshua took a single step around Jericho’s walls, God declared the victory complete. This is the foundation for understanding how strongholds fall in our lives. We don’t fight to win; we fight from the position of victory Christ has already secured.
Many of us exhaust ourselves trying to achieve victory over life-dominating sins, not realizing that Christ has already defeated every stronghold that could ever rise against us. The battle was won at the cross. Sin, death, and Satan were conquered completely. Now we simply need to walk in that reality.
When facing your stronghold today, remember: you’re not trying to win a battle. You’re enforcing a victory that’s already been won. The walls may look intimidating, but they’re already marked for demolition.
Today's Challenge
In what ways have you been trying to defeat your stronghold using "human weapons"? What might God's "ridiculous" plan look like for your situation? Identify one human strategy you've been relying on. Replace it today with one of God's divine weapons: His presence (prayer), His Word (Scripture), His people (community), or persistent faith.
