Learning on The Way
David starts Psalm 30 by reminding himself of how great God is. Share with your group what your favorite attribute of God is that you like to remind yourself with. (Sovereign, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Transcendent, Immanent, Immutable, Infinite, Eternal)
Describe a time in your life when you were being overconfident in your abilities. Share a brief example and how it turned out. How has overconfidence effected your spiritual life?
“vs. 5 For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime.” What is your perspective on God’s anger and favor – That God’s anger is long and his favor is short or the opposite- that his anger is short and his favor is long? When things are good, do you forget to be thankful?
“vs. 7 By your favor…..you hid your face…” is a reminder of how much we need God. Have you ever seen this as God’s favor? How has God used “hiding his face” to remind you of your need for him?
David returns to thankfulness. We are entering into a time our country celebrates being thankful. What would you say is your default response to the events of life, thankfulness or anger and bitterness? What helps you remember to be thankful?
